JACKSONVILLE, NC – For the first time in a generation, the SMART Modified Tour will invade the abrasive New River All American Speedway as part of a coastal doubleheader on Labor Day Weekend.
The SMART Modified Tour will stage its first race at New River since 2000 on Friday, August 30, 2024. The race will also mark the first time Tour Modifieds have raced at the track since May 2014. The two tour-modified races were won by Junior Miller (2000) and David Calabrese (2014) when the track ran under the Coastal Plains Raceway banner.
In recent years, the SMART Modified Tour has featured names such as 2000 NASCAR Cup Series champion and Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Labonte, 2008 Daytona 500 winner Ryan Newman, three-time series champion, three-time SMART Modified Tour champion Burt Myers, Brandon Ward, Jeremy Gerstner, Caleb Heady, and many more.
The USAC Eastern Midgets will also race at New River on Friday, August 30. It will be the fourth appearance the series has made at New River All American Speedway.
“We’ve been wanting to bring the SMART Modified Tour to New River and we’re excited to finally make it happen,” Anthony Goodyear, New River All American Speedway operator, said. “Fans have been wanting us to bring the SMART Modifieds in, and we know our fans are excited to have the USAC Eastern Midgets come back, so August 30 is definitely a date that should be circled on everyone’s calendar.”
The SMART Tour is the latest addition to what will be an action-packed 2024 calendar. The full schedule will be released in the coming weeks. As previously announced, the zMAX CARS Tour will return to New River All American Speedway on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
New River All American Speedway will be back in action on New Year’s Day with the third running of the Hangover Nationals featuring Bombers, Legends, Rumblers, Bandoleros and Powder Puff racing. The green flag will drop at 12:00pm.
