JACKSONVILLE, NC – Goodyear All American Speedway will be hosting performances from the marching band out of nearby Richlands High School during the HetuStrong Race Against Cancer on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

The Richlands High School marching band will perform the Star-Spangled Banner prior to the start of the race, which is headlined by the Carolina Mini-Stock Challenge.  Additionally, they will perform an ensemble of music during a concert at a scheduled intermission period.

“We are definitely excited about coming out and playing,” Greg Shreckengost, director of bands at Richlands High School, said.  “We do things like this, not necessarily the speedway, but we’ve done store openings and played at community events.  This is a new experience for us, we’ve never played at a racetrack.  To be a part of something with our community is always a pleasure.”

The performance by the marching band is a first for Goodyear All American Speedway, which will be enhancing the entertainment offerings at the track throughout the season – both during races and throughout the summer as well.

“We’re not just committed to racing in the community but being a part of it, and we’re excited to have the Richlands High School band come out and perform,” Goodyear All American Speedway marketing director Andy Marquis said.  “It’s always fun to listen to the marching bands play at halftime during high school football games in the area.  The Richlands High School marching band will put on a great show, and I know everyone will have a blast.”

Proceeds from the HetuStrong Race Against Cancer, featuring the Ronnie Hetu Memorial for the Carolina Mini-Stock Challenge, will benefit cancer research and treatment at Onslow Radiation Oncology in Jacksonville.  The racing program will also feature the Bandoleros, which is the speedway’s youth class, as well as expanding hometown Bomber division, Legends, and Powder Puffs.  Festivities will get underway at 2:00pm EDT.

Tickets for the race are available at the gate on race day for $15 for adults, $12 for seniors/military/students (with ID), $5 for kids ages 6-12, and kids five (5) and under are admitted free of charge.

Goodyear All American Speedway is Jacksonville’s Action Attraction featuring racing and other events.  For more information about Goodyear All American Speedway, check out the speedway’s website, like/follow “Goodyear All American Speedway” on Facebook, or follow the track on Instagram.
