JACKSONVILLE, NC – Eight drivers will race for the Legend Car division championship at New River All-American Speedway in September.

The playoff grid, which consists of six men and two very fast women, has been set after Saturday’s Summer Classic, which saw Aiden McConnaughey pick up his second win of the 2023 season over Brenton Irving.  That victory clinched the no. 2 seed for the Jacksonville driver.

Leading the playoff field, with six wins, is Raleigh’s Carson Haislip, who has dominated Legends racing in North Carolina.  Haislip’s Dillon Spain Motorsports teammates Phoenyx Kimball (3) and Raven Kimball (5) are also locked into the playoffs. Phoenyx Kimball won the Bandolero division championship in 2022.

Brenton Irving (4) and his father, Shane Irving (8) have also made the playoffs with their top-five finishes throughout the season.  Defending champion D.J. Murphy (6) and Jacksonville competitor Mike Ridenour (7) round out the field of drivers who will compete in the Race for the Championship Semifinals.

The Semifinal race for the Legend Cars will take place on Saturday, September 2, 2023.  The top-four finishers among the eight playoff-eligible drivers will advance to the Championship Finals on Sunday, September 17, 2023.  The highest-finishing finalist in the September 17 race will win the championship.

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, the Legend Car and Bandolero divisions will both be in action with INEX National Qualifiers alongside the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour.  The INEX National Qualfifier races were excluded from the playoffs due to the expected influx of competitors and the interest of fairness to playoff drivers.

Only three drivers are playoff eligible in the Bandolero division, including Washington’s Landon Burbage, La Grange’s Delaney Gray, and Raleigh’s Aidan Zschiedrich.  Those three drivers will race for the championship on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
