JACKSONVILLE, NC – Jason York is looking forward to Saturday’s New River 125 presented by United Rentals with hopes of returning to victory lane at a track he has had plenty of success at.

York, 46, from Reidsville, North Carolina, picked up a win last summer at Goodyear All American Speedway.  Prior to that, he had won in UARA competition at the 4/10-mile track and is also a former winner of the ValleyStar Credit Union 300, the Late Model spectacle that takes place at Martinsville Speedway each fall.  This weekend, he’s hoping to score his first Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour victory at one of his favorite tracks.

“I think we’re going to be pretty good,” York said.  “There’s going to be good competition with the CARS Tour.  All we can do is try to get the car a little better and hopefully, we can beat them at the end.”

While York expects tire management to be a factor on the Onslow County track’s gritty and abrasive surface, he doesn’t expect it to be as extreme as other tracks he’s competed at – such as the Myrtle Beach Speedway complex which closed in the summer of 2020.

“I think it’s going to be in-between,” York said of the tire wear.  “This track doesn’t burn tires off as bad as Myrtle Beach did.  I think you’re going to be saving some but you’re not going to be getting on it as hard as you would in qualifying to save some.  I don’t think the pace is going to be as slow as Myrtle Beach was.”

York always enjoys the opportunity to return to Jacksonville.

His win last summer came in the first Late Model race in the Goodyear All American Speedway era.  He returned in November to compete in the Battle of the Stars but had to settle for a 21st place finish after falling out of the race.

“I’ve always loved this track,” York stated.  “It’s a fun track to drive.  It’s totally different from any track you go to.  I wish it was a lot closer to the house.  We’re about four hours from here.  If it was closer to the house, I’d be here every weekend.”

York will be returning to the track next weekend as well to help his son, Jamie, who will compete in the Atlantic Turfscapes Super Truck Series portion of the Carolina 250.  This weekend, however, his focus is on his Late Model Stock Car in the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour’s debut at the 4/10-mile track in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Saturday’s New River 125 presented by United Rentals will commence at 7pm.  Gates open at 4pm.  Tickets are available on race day for $25 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12, and kids five (5) and under free.  Senior and military discounts are available as are trackside spots and camping.
