Goodyear All American Speedway, Solid Rock Carriers team up for Hurricane Ida recovery

JACKSONVILLE, NC – Goodyear All American Speedway, Solid Rock Carriers, Racing Realty, Rooms Unlimited, and Genuine Amish Furniture are stepping up to help people in Louisiana and on the Gulf Coast who have been impacted by catastrophic Hurricane Ida, which made landfall on Sunday.

Solid Rock Carriers has donated a trailer to be filled with supplies, which will be taken down to the Gulf Coast in the coming days.  Beginning on Tuesday, Goodyear All American Speedway will be accepting donations on site, such as bottled water, batteries, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, paper products, non-perishable food and other essential items to be loaded up and delivered to residents of Louisiana.

On top of a drop-off site at Goodyear All American Speedway in Jacksonville, Roger Burns from Racing Realty and Jessica and Tyler Harth from Rooms Unlimited are also stepping up to assist with drop-off locations at their businesses.

“Louisiana needs our help and we need the local community’s help,” Tonya Goodyear said.  “We don’t know what Louisiana needs but it will probably be what we needed when Hurricane Florence paid us an unwelcome visit a few years ago.  Thanks to Kirk Ipock and Solid Rock Carriers, we have a trailer to fill up for our neighbors so we hope the local community can help us help Louisiana.”

Hurricane Ida made landfall on Sunday as a catastrophic category four (4) hurricane, one of the strongest storms to ever hit the United States, on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.  The devastation in the wake of Hurricane Ida is expected to be severe for the gulf coast, which is still recovering from Katrina and from Hurricane Laura, another catastrophic storm that hit a year ago.

Goodyear All American Speedway will be open from 10am-5pm as a drop off.  Residents who wish to drop supplies off after 5pm can give the track a call at (910) 708-0202 in advance so racetrack staff can stay late to collect supplies.  Rooms Unlimited and Racing Realty will be accepting donations until 7pm, and will allow supplies to be dropped off on their front porch after hours. Additionally, Genuine Amish Furniture in Morehead City will be accepting donations during business hours.

Goodyear All American Speedway is located at 4744 Richlands Hwy. in Jacksonville, Racing Realty is located at 241 Norris Rd. in Swansboro, and Rooms Unlimited is located at 441 Cedar Point Blvd. in Cedar Point. Genuine Amish Furniture is located at 278 Hwy. 24, Suite I-J, in Morehead City.
