JACKSONVILLE, NC – FloRacing will air the $20,000-to-win, 200-lap Solid Rock Carriers Battle of the Stars on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
FloRacing, the official broadcast partner of NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series racing and the new home for New River All-American Speedway broadcasts, will have flag-to-flag coverage of the race, with multiple cameras to cover all the action at the 4/10-mile complex.
“We are excited to have select races, including the Battle of the Stars, on FloRacing this season,” New River All-American Speedway media director Andy Marquis said. “FloRacing is an awesome service that covers a wide diversity of racing with live racing just about every night of the week all year.”
Wesley Outland will handle play-by-play commentary for the Solid Rock Carriers Battle of the Stars for the second consecutive year alongside Marquis, who is the track announcer.
“I’m excited to have my good friend Wesley Outland in the booth once again for the Battle of the Stars,” Marquis said. “Wesley’s been coming to this track and supporting it for so many years, and he brings a level of enthusiasm that’s contagious to the commentary booth.”
Outland is a veteran broadcaster of 26 years. He has handled play-by-play coverage for events on Fox Sports Radio, Racing America, FloRacing, and NASCAR. Outland began announcing at the facility in 2003, at the age of 16. He is a regular announcer at Wake County Speedway and for the Carolina Pro Late Model Series. He announced races last season at Florence Motor Speedway and at New River All-American Speedway and was a part of the broadcast for the Inaugural Battle of the Stars in 2021, and most recently handled play-by-play commentary duties for the Hangover 150.
“This is home,” Outland said. “It is always so special returning to New River All-American Speedway where I started picking up a mic in my teenage years, thanks to Ronnie Humphrey. What Anthony and Tonya Goodyear have done and continue to do for racing is phenomenal. Add Kirk Ipock with Solid Rock Carriers to the fold with his passion for the sport that makes the Battle of the Stars bigger and badder than last year with $20,000 to the winner. To have the opportunity to co-announce this yearly is an honor and a privilege.”
Also joining Marquis and Outland in the booth is teenager Atley Wiese, who races in Bandoleros and has announced at several tracks, including at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway on FloRacing and co-announced at race at New River All-American Speedway on Racing America in 2022. As a racer, he has competed in Jacksonville, Charlotte, Langley, Atlanta, and Wake County Speedway. In 2020, he founded Intensity Broadcasting, which broadcasts live iRacing events on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch.
“I am thrilled to be a co-announcer for the Battle of the Stars at New River All-American Speedway,” Wiese said. “It’s going to be awesome to watch some of the best Late Model drivers in the country duke it out at such an amazing track.”
J.D. Bowsher will join the broadcast as a pit reporter. Bowsher, who is the granddaughter of ARCA legend Jack Bowsher, has been entrenched in racing her entire life. Her mother’s family owned a sprint car team. Bowsher spent most of her life on the road with her family in the ARCA series, where her family won a combined 11 ARCA championships as drivers and car owners. After taking several years off for health reasons, she returned to racing in 2020, and in 2022, began doing public relations for the Grand National Super Series.
“I am beyond thrilled to be the pit reporter for the Solid Rock Carriers Battle of the Stars,” Bowsher said. “This is always an exciting race, and I can’t wait to be a part of it. Thank you to New River All-American Speedway and FloRacing for the opportunity.”
