JACKSONVILLE, NC – New River All American Speedway has canceled this upcoming weekend’s Gary Rochelle Memorial due to excessive rainfall already sustained from Tropical Storm Debby with more rain in the forecast.

“While we waited it out as long as we could in hopes of being able to race this weekend, we have made the decision to pull the plug on Saturday’s Gary Rochelle Memorial after receiving more rain throughout the morning hours,” the track posted on Facebook.  “With the amount of standing water already on the grounds at the track, more rain expected through today, and a forecast calling for more rain tomorrow afternoon and evening, it is in the best interests of our competitors and fans for us to call it off.”

The amount of rain that has already fallen has given the track concerns about parking, both in the pits and general admission.  Additionally, all available forecast data shows rain on Saturday evening around race time.

The next race at New River All American Speedway will be on Friday, August 30, 2024 with the SMART Modified Tour headlining Milam Equipment Rentals Open Wheel Mayhem presented by Pace-O-Matic.  The Carolina Crate Modified Series and the New River Champ Karts will also be in action.  Tickets and information can be found at newriverswy.com/smart.

The Gary Rochelle Memorial Street Stock and Champ Kart race will now be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
