JACKSONVILLE, NC – Delaney Gray made her much anticipated return to victory lane at New River All American Speedway on Thursday night, scoring the victory in the Bandolero division and putting an end to Jay Hemenway’s winning streak.

The win on Independence Day marked Gray’s first victory at New River since September 2023.  Gray led wire-to-wire, holding off challenges from Jay Hemenway, who had won three straight races in the division including a victory on June 29.

“It feels so good,” Gray said.  “We’ve been working so hard to get back here.  Everybody that’s helped us get here.  The main person who’s helped us is the Lord.  I wouldn’t be here without him.  We worked so hard to get here and hopefully we can keep winning.”

Hemenway ultimately settled for a runner-up finish while Rylan Speight finished in third.

Brady Price picked up his fourth victory in the Bomber division with another last lap pass, this time muscling his way past James Barbour.

“I knew I was catching him slowly,” Price said.  “I was so much faster than him on corner exit and then he’d just drive away on the straightaway.  I didn’t mean to bump him at all, I just could not give away what little exit speed I had.  Every time I hit him, I’d hit him as square as I could not to spin him out.  I don’t want to wreck anybody.  It was last lap, last corner.  I know we made contact, I didn’t mean to, but that was great racing.  That was awesome.”

Barbour, who leads in the Bomber division points at Wake County Speedway, was miffed after the race after being relegated to a second-place result.

“If I wouldn’t have kept getting hit,” Barbour said.  “Seems like that’s the only way anybody can win here, they’ve got to wreck somebody.  Next time, no more nice guy.  It’s fun here but everybody hits you.  I’ve raced here three times and this is what happened three times.”

Price has won four of the last five Bomber races, while Andrew Watson picked up a win on June 29.

Two years after beginning his racing journey, Aiden McConnaughey added two more wins to his record during Summer Speedweeks with dominant Legend Car victories on June 29 and July 4.

“It’s been incredible, these last two years,” McConaughey said.  “The amount of progress that we’ve made.  I feel like I’ve made a lot of progress as a driver and matured a lot.  The team, Three Sixteen Motorsports, our asphalt program has absolutely taken off over these last two years.  We’re nothing like we were two years ago and I can’t thank everyone enough for their hard work.  It’s so cool to be competitive all the time.”

McConnaughey has also been traveling throughout the summer, scoring a runner-up finish at the quarter-mile at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Cookout Summer Shootout on June 25.

Paul Williamson clinched his fourth Late Model win at New River on Saturday while Brandon Carraway scored his first win in a Street Stock at New River.  Dustin Phillips (June 29) and Austin Banker (July 4) picked up wins in the Champ Kart division during Summer Speedweeks.  Trace Raynor was victorious in Mini Stock competition on June 29, and Chris Chapman swept in a Charger double feature on June 29.

New River All American Speedway’s busy summer stretch continues on Saturday, July 13, with Chargers, Bombers, Legends, Rumblers, Mini Stocks, and Bandoleros.  The green flag will wave at 8pm.
