JACKSONVILLE, NC – T.J. Barron extended his win streak to four in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series after once again sweeping a pair of Late Model features at New River All-American Speedway on Saturday night.
Barron made the race-winning pass in the closing laps of the first twin race after recovering from an on-track skirmish with a lapped car and chasing down Rusty Daniels. An invert of the lead lap finishers in the second race resulted in Barron starting the race in the fifth position. From there, he quickly ran down the leaders and passed Daniels once again midway through the 40-lap race.
“It feels awesome man,” Barron said. “This is a hobby for most of us. We don’t make a living doing this. Everybody comes out here to win. Everybody busts their butts, my team, everybody’s team. It’s a lot of dedication in this stuff. Just proud of our little team, and family. We work our butts off on this car, come out here and let the shop work prove what it can do. Races are won in the shop, not on the racetrack. That was a true testament to that tonight.”
Adam Resnick finished second in the first race, while Daniels took the runner-up finish in the second.
Tyler Chapman also pulled off a sweep in the Charger division – making a last lap pass on Mike Jones in the first of the two 20-lap races and then dominating in the second feature.
“I can’t thank Mike enough,” Chapman said. “He raced me clean. He was protecting the bottom and I knew he wouldn’t let me in there so I had to make the top work. Man, this thing was a rocket ship all weekend. You gotta think, am I really going to do it? If he’s using his stuff up, it’s going to work. I felt I knew it would work. My dad’s coached me for a long time.”
Cornell Williams won in the U-CAR division while Jacob Tingen was awarded the win in Champ Kart and Hunter Brown scored his second career victory in Bomber division.
New River All-American Speedway will return to action on Saturday, May 27, 2023 with the B-52 Bomber Car Battle headlining the Memorial Day Weekend event. Following that race, the Carolina Pro Late Model Series will headline the Angry Ginger Irish Pub 207 on Friday, June 2, 2023.
