JACKSONVILLE, NC – The B-52 Bomber Car Battle is returning for a second straight year at New River All-American Speedway, paying $520 to win and $52 to start as the headline race of the United Rentals Race of Remembrance on Saturday, May 27.
Last year’s race, which was ultimately won by Andrew Warner, drew anticipation from the growing Bomber class. A year later, the Swansboro Liquidations Bomber Division, which is the track’s Division IV in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series, has become the speedway’s largest division, as well as being a fan favorite.
“For New River All-American Speedway’s second annual B-52 Bomber Car Battle, we just want to let the Bomber teams know how much we appreciate them and how blessed we are to have this division race here,” track operator Anthony Goodyear said. “We would love to keep growing the Bomber class that brings so much joy and memorable experiences to the fans. We’re having new Bombers drivers enter every week and are excited to welcome them when they come to experience racing here.”
The Swansboro Liquidations Bomber Division has grown in size since its introduction in 2021, with over 15 cars entering each race. Already, three different drivers have found victory lane in 2023, and a crop of new contenders has emerged, such as Hunter Brown, his younger sister Haley, playoff points leader Nathan Hall, and Richard Smith, among others.
“Our Bombers and Champ Karts often steal the show,” Goodyear remarked. “All of our Bomber drivers are from Onslow County or other nearby areas, Memorial Day Weekend is important to Onslow County, being the home of Camp Lejeune, so we thought it was appropriate to give the local-most division top billing for the United Rentals Race of Remembrance.”
The race will pay $520 to first place, $250 for second, $100 for third, $75 for fourth and fifth, and $52 from sixth on back.
Along with the B-52 Bomber Car Battle, the United Rentals Race of Remembrance will feature racing for Champ Karts, Late Models, Legends, Bandoleros, and U-CARs. Registration is open on the My Race Pass website, and tickets are available for sale at newriverspeedway.com/tickets as well as on the My Race Pass app.
