B-52 Bomber Car Battle

Date: Saturday, May 27, 2023 | Distance: 52 laps / 20.8 miles
Venue: New River All-American Speedway (Jacksonville, North Carolina)

RACE FORMAT

52 laps (2 stages – 26 laps / 26 laps)

STAGE 1: 26 laps / 10.4 miles

The first half of the race will be run without a breakout rule, meaning there will be no penalties for running faster than 20.500.

Once the entire field has completed the 26th lap, the green checkered flag will wave to indicate the end of the stage, followed by a caution flag.

Winning the first stage will pay a $100 bonus, and the stage win will count toward the playoff standings.

HALFWAY BREAK: 10 minutes

Once the entire field has taken the caution flag, the field will be frozen and will be brought down pit road by the National Dodge Pace Car.

Teams will be allowed to change/move tires on their car and make adjustments to their cars.  Air pressure adjustments are allowed.  However, aside from tires, hard parts may not be changed.

There will be an invert at halfway.  The invert will be decided by a pill draw.  During the halfway break, the track will select a random fan in attendance to draw the pill determining the invert.

STAGE 2 (FINAL STAGE): 26 laps / 10.4 miles

The field will be lined up according to the order after invert.

In the second stage, the breakout rule will remain in place.  If a driver runs under 20.500, they will receive a warning from race control.  After a second lap under 20.500, that driver will be receive a black flag and must pull to pit road.

CAUTIONS: Caution laps will not count for the first three cautions, in either stage.  After a third caution, caution laps may be counted at the discretion of race control.

RESTARTS: New River All-American Speedway will utilize the “choose cone” rule for the race.

OVERTIME: If the caution comes out with two (2) laps to go, New River All-American Speedway will allow one, and only one, attempt at a Green-White-Checkered (Overtime) finish.  If the field has taken the white flag and the caution comes out, race control has the discretion to either call a caution and send the race to overtime or allow the race to finish under caution.

RULES: The race will be run out of the New River All-American Speedway Bomber division rulebook.

ELIGIBILITY: Competitors will be required to have a NASCAR license.  If a driver does not have one, they can purchase either a 15-day license or an annual license at the pit gate during registration.  Due to NASCAR requirements, nobody under the age of 14 is eligible to compete in the race.
