JACKSONVILLE, NC – Andrew Warner survived a series of late race cautions to score the victory in Saturday night’s B-52 Bomber Car Battle at Goodyear All American Speedway.
Warner dominated the race from start-to-finish but had to deal with challenges from Cornell Williams and Eddie Humphrey in the closing laps. Warner’s strength came on the restarts, and a late race restart allowed Warner to pull out to a big enough lead to hold on for the biggest win of his racing career.
“Hopefully there are more to come,” Warner said. “Cornell and Eddie man, they kept me on my heels this whole race. That was awesome. Words can’t describe what that was. I got one strength of this car even though I’m 1,500 pounds heavier. I wanted to maximize that straightaway, went as early as I could and went to work. They made me work for that one.”
Williams finished second while Humphrey, Brian Gooden and Andrew Jackson rounded out the top-five.
The results of Saturday’s Late Model doubleheader was not decided until Wednesday morning.
Brandon Clements protested Rusty Daniels’s victory following the first of two Late Model contests. The motors were taken to Darlington, South Carolina, for inspection and the cubic centimeters of the heads on Daniels’ motor were deemed to be illegal. As a result, Daniels was stripped of both of his victories.
Clements and Boo Boo Dalton went on to inherit the wins while Dylan Newsome took over the lead in the championship standings.
Ayden Milette held off Phoenyx Kimball to score the victory in Bandolero competition while Charlie Beals dominated in Legends, Travis Miller won in Mini Stock, and Joe Lanier was victorious in U-CAR.
Goodyear All American Speedway returns to action on Saturday night with V8 Mayhem and Dog Day at the Speedway. Late Models, Chargers and Super Trucks all headline the racing program which goes green at 8pm.
