JACKSONVILLE, NC — Aiden McConnaughey added another milestone to his impressive resume just two years into his racing career with a win at the iconic Charlotte Motor Speedway on Tuesday night.
McConnaughey. 18, from Jacksonville, is the defending champion in Legends competition at New River All American Speedway – the track he began his racing career at in July 2022. He picked up the win in the Semi Pro Legends feature at the Cookout Summer Shootout – an annual event held each week during the summer months by US Legend Cars and INEX International and the staff at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“It’s so incredibly special to finally get this one done,” McConnaughey said. “It’s been such a journey over the last two years getting started in racing, learning my craft over at my home track New River All American, and doing all I could to grow as a person and driver. But I never imagined we would be able to win on the biggest stage on legends racing, it’s just absolutely insane to me. I can’t think Three Sixteen Motorsports, Reeves Custom Homes, and all of my family, friends and supporters for everything. I wouldn’t be here without them.”
McConnaughey has won five races at New River All American Speedway in 2024, including the last two consecutive races. He has 10 wins total at the 4/10-mile track in Jacksonville, and will look to go for the three-peat on Saturday night in the Summer Classic. Chargers, Mini Stocks, Bombers, Rumblers, and Bandoleros will also be a part of the action as the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series heats up.
