JACKSONVILLE, NC – Rusty Daniels extended his winning streak to five consecutive races with a sweep of Late Model twins on Saturday night.

Daniels held off a ferocious challenge from Adam Resnick in the first of two Late Model races, pulling away late in the race.  After a full field invert, the veteran racer from Alliance quickly raced his way to the lead within the race’s first 10 laps and drove away from division points leader Dylan Newsome to score the win.

After the race was over, Newsome lodged a protest against Daniels’ motor.  The engine was taken offsite for inspection and deemed to be legal – solidifying Daniels’ victory.

“It’s very humbling to drive something like this,” Daniels said after the race on Saturday night.  “All these parts on this chassis come off an older car.  Same motor, same transmission, same rear end I’ve run for the last four or five years.  I can just say, the chassis is what’s making us run as good as we are.  It’s the same stuff we’ve had for years.  The dedication, my family’s gone without for 30 years now.  My mom and dad started this deal and we’ve picked it up from here, me and Kevin [Bell] have.  It’s just been a wonderful ride this year to be driving something as nice as this car is.  Just unbelievable.”

LATE MODEL RESULTS:

Race #1: 1.) #16 – Rusty Daniels; 2.) #4 – Adam Resnick; 3.) #44 – Dylan Newsome; 4.) #25 – Kenneth Mercer; 5.) #29 – Paul Williamson; 6.) #21 – Gerald Benton

Race #2: 1.) #16 – Rusty Daniels; 2.) #44 – Dylan Newsome; 3.) #29 – Paul Williamson; 4.) #21 – Gerald Benton; 5.) #25 – Kenneth Mercer; 6.) #4 – Adam Resnick

With his two victories on Saturday being confirmed on Tuesday, Daniels now has seven wins on the season but, after a disqualification earlier this year following a protest, he sits second in points, 27 points behind Dylan Newsome.  Newsome will clinch the Late Model championship on Saturday, September 17 by taking the green flag in the Late Model feature.

Goodyear All American Speedway will host racing for Bombers, Champ Karts, Chargers, and U-CARs this Saturday night, August 20, in the It’s Hot 150.
