JACKSONVILLE, NC – Goodyear All American Speedway is setting the stage for its biggest Late Model Stock Car race of the year, the $10,000-to-win Battle of the Stars set to take place on Sunday, November 14.
Invitations are being sent out to some of the top Late Model Stock Car racers in the Carolinas and Virginia to compete in the event, with more drivers set to be added in the weeks prior to the race. Among those invited are 2020 track champions, the CARS Tour’s Lucas Oil Touring 12, winners of big events, and more.
“One of the visions I had, when I took over this track, was to do an all-star race and we’re finally making it a reality,” track promoter Anthony Goodyear said. “We’ve got invites going out to the biggest names in Late Model racing, along with our local all-stars, and we’re looking forward to having one of the biggest races of the year right here in Jacksonville.”
Already, several drivers have committed to the race – with more invitations going out over the next couple of weeks.
The Battle of the Stars will be a 150-lap race, split into three 50 lap stages with the winner of the race taking home $10,000. Additionally, stage winners will receive bonuses, as will the pole winner. There will be an invert after one of the two stages, with the stage the invert will take place being determined via coin flip before the race and the number of inverted cars being determined by a roll of the dice at that stage break.
The Battle of the Stars will be run on American Racer/McCreary tires and each team will get a set of tires to practice on and a set of tires to race on – incorporated in the flat rate entry fee which also includes fuel and pit passes for the driver and crew chief. The race will be a four-tire race and teams will be permitted to move, but not change, tires during the stage breaks.
A practice day for the event will be held on Saturday, November 13 and the race will be run in daylight on Sunday, November 14. Tickets will be available on race day for $20 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12, and kids five and under free.
The Battle of the Stars takes place amidst a busy autumn season at the track. On Saturday, October 23, Goodyear All American Speedway will host the Halloween Havoc Night of Destruction, which features a demolition derby along with other unique races. The next race at Goodyear All American Speedway takes place on Saturday, October 9 featuring a Late Model doubleheader and much more. Additional announcements about events in the fall and winter will be made in the coming weeks.
