LATE MODEL CHAMPION

Goldsboro’s Dylan Newsome scored his first Late Model championship at Goodyear All American Speedway, winning one race in the regular season. Consistency was the key, however, for the second-generation driver, adding a Late Model championship to his accomplishments.
“It’s really exciting. It’s something we set out to do. I guess we accomplished it. We kind of set out to win races, the championship was just a plus.”
Michael O’Brien
Charger CHAMPION

Goldsboro’s Michael O’Brien dominated Charger racing in North Carolina in 2022, winning championships at three different tracks (Goodyear, Carteret & Wake County). O’Brien scored four wins and five top-five finishes during the regular season at Goodyear All American Speedway.
“It feels pretty good being the first year this track opened back up, to go down in the little record book as the first-time Charger champion.”
Gary Rochelle, Jr.
Street Stock Champion

Jacksonville’s Gary Rochelle, Jr. clinched the Street Stock championship with a victory and three podium finishes in 2022.
“I want to thank my dad and everybody who works on the car. It’s been a while since I won a championship here at my home track so this feels awesome.”
Travis “Always Late” Miller
Mini Stock CHAMPION

Jacksonville’s Travis “Always Late” Miller was never late when it was time to visit victory lane. The veteran driver picked up four Mini Stock victories, including a win in the regular season finale, to clinch the championship at his hometown track.
“It’s very special to be able to win this championship. A lot of emotions go through my mind. This will be my 22nd year racing, and I got my first start here and have been hooked ever since. God has been so good to me through my career and kept me safe every race.”
Curtis Lanier
U-CAR CHAMPION

Beulaville’s Curtis Lanier joked that victory lane should be named after him – and he made a strong case for it with four wins and a championship in U-CAR competition and a Mini Stock win.
“It feels great to be right here in my victory lane with this famous red car. It’s a fireball, it’s super fast. I couldn’t do this without my family, friends, and sponsors. It’s a great feeling to win this championship in this car.”
Eddie Humphrey
Bomber CHAMPION

Hubert’s Eddie Humphrey was the dominant driver in Bomber competition at Goodyear All American Speedway in 2022. The former Street Stock champion returned to racing after a lengthy hiatus, scoring 7 wins during the regular season.
“I’m super proud and blessed to be able to come back into the racing scene after 13 years and be competitive with these young guns. Then, to win a championship is icing on the cake. I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Trey Massengill
Champ Kart CHAMPION

Dudley’s Trey Massengill picked up the championship with blinding speed and rock-solid consistency, scoring a victory, four podium finishes and finishing no worse than fifth en route to the Champ Kart division championship.
“I lost my father, who has always been my racing idol, to cancer this year, which makes the championship so special to me. I know he is looking down with a smile, which makes every bit of effort put into it worth it.”
D.J. “Mad Dawg” Murphy
Legends CHAMPION

Richlands’ D.J. “Mad Dawg” Murphy, a retired United States Marine Corps. Staff Sergeant, always comes to the track with enthusiasm and a desire to win. He set out to win the championship in 2022, and win races, and accomplished just that. He is hoping his sons will carry on the racing tradition in Bandoleros in 2023.
“Being a champion does not make you a winner, rather being a winner makes you a champion. The journey is and always will be my destination.”
Phoenyx Kimball
Bandolero CHAMPION

Raleigh’s Phoenyx Kimball lived up to her namesake, rising above adversity on and off the track throughout the 2022 season to clinch the Bandolero championship after previously winning the Winter Heat title earlier in the year. Kimball scored six wins in the regular season.
“It feels great. I’ve dfinitely had a rough season. I’m thankful to win the championship and have to thank my family, sponsors and Dillon Spain.”
